Romantic places to propose
At dinner, at home, at the theatre. There are many places that spring to mind when you think of somewhere to propose to your loved one. The problem is that many of the places that spring to mind are clichéd and quite uninspired.
When thinking of a romantic place to propose, have a think about special things that you and your partner have done together and try and choose somewhere that has a strong link with the two of you.
A couple of friends of ours recently got engaged at Alton Towers (He tried to ask her in the cable car, but we couldn't get a carriage alone!). He chose Alton Towers as they had met for the very first time there, just as friends.
Remember, if you choose somewhere that's a little different then it's something else special to remember in the future. Plus, you (hopefully) won't get a second chance to propose to them, so make sure that when you look back on it in a few years time you won't regret not having done something else.
Romantic ways to propose
When you think of people proposing you think of the guy on one knee at the foot of his lover, offering her the ring that he's chosen.
Why not try something a bit different?
Here are a few ideas we've come up with:
Casino Proposal
Why not get a slot machine coin bucket full of coins and place the ring on top, then present it to your loved one in the casino. Hopefully you'll hit the jackpot!
Heading for the ground
If you're both the type with a head for heights, then why not propose on a bungee jump or a skydive? Just make sure she's not so shocked she forgets to pull her ripcord!
The Mile High Marriage Proposal
Ask your lover to marry you when you're on a plane. Speak nicely to the air hostesses and see if they can give her the box, or place the ring on her dinner tray, then ask her to marry you when they come and deliver it to her! You might even get the chance to join the mile high club too!
Indecent Proposal
For those of you with a naughty side, tie the ring to your manhood with a silk bow and turn off the lights. Call in your lover and hear her shriek with delight when she finds something extra special down there!
Radio Romance
If your lover is a regular listener to a certain radio show, phone the station and see if you can ask her 'on air'. This carries the added wow factor of her friends/colleagues possibly hearing it - just hope she says yes!
Eye for Romance
How about proposing to her on an evening trip in the London Eye?
There's not many more romantic views than the sight of the lights of the capital twinkling below. Ask her when the capsule is at it's highest for the best effect.
Propose a Pizza
If your partner is partial to a pizza, phone up the pizza delivery company and order as usual. Ask them to deliver you a small empty pizza box too, and place the ring on a bed of tissue paper in the empty box. Take the pizzas in to your lover and tell her that they delivered another box that they said was for her. Hopefully she won't choke on her pizza in shock!
Big Screen Proposal
Does your lover like football/rugby as much as you do? If she does then next time she's coming to the match with you, arrange for the stadium to show your proposal on their big screens during the interval. She's sure to be impressed!
As you can see, there are loads of ways you can propose to your partner. The best thing is to try and do something that's meaningful to you and her, different than 'normal' and also something that you feel comfortable doing. There's no point proposing to her in a special way if you're not happy with doing it that way, as your nerves will be amplified and you're sure to regret it.
